The Tour de Cure features fully-stocked rest stops with water, sports drink and power snacks every 15-20 miles. We offer sugar-free snacks for our diabetic cycling friends at all rest stops.
The Tour de Cure features Support-and-Gear (SAG) vehicles, route communications provided by Amateur Radio Operators (HAM), and mechanical support from Columbia and Charleston bike shops.
About the Swamp Fox - General Francis Marion acquired his nickname during the American Revolutionary War from Colonel Banastre Tarleton, a British commander, when he complained it was impossible to catch the "Swamp Fox". Come join the fun and ride the historic areas where the Swamp Fox led successful fights against the British in The Siege of Fort Motte and The Battle of Eutaw Springs, causing them to retreat to North Carolina and subsequently surrender to General George Washington six weeks later.
THANKS to all who participated in this year's event - riders,
sponsors, volunteers, HAM operators & bike shops. Thanks for your
many hours of preparation and your dedication to making a difference in the
lives of those affected by diabetes!
